Athens Clarke-County Stormwater Announces Watershed UGA for their Annual Stormwater Steward Award.
Each year, the Athens-Clarke County Stormwater Management Program presents the Stormwater Steward Award to an organization, business, individual, or community group that has gone above and beyond to reduce the impact of stormwater runoff on local waters through a specific project, practice, or event. This year, the awards were announced during the Athens Greenfest Awards in downtown Athens, GA at the Morton Theatre on April, 21st 2017.
Watershed UGA won the Stormwater Steward Organizational Award for our help in improving area watersheds. ACC recognized Watershed UGA's efforts to promote student, faculty, and staff engagement through education and service on campus. Additionally, our 9 Element Plan to restore Trail Creek, installation of stormwater management behind Stroud Elementary, plan for Lake Herrick restoration, and aid in researching policies for residential stormwater management were recognized as reasoning behind the award.
Watershed UGA is honored by this award from Stormwater Management, and in the future, this organization will continue to further education, restoration, and preservation of local watersheds.
