SGA gets involved with Watershed UGA

On March 21st, 2016, the Student Government Associate made a unanimous vote to actively partner with Watershed UGA in order to assist with Watershed UGA’s educational initiatives. The University is built over majority of our streams, but 21% of students are unaware that the streams exist. These streams are highly degraded, and flow right into the Oconee River, which is the primary source of Athens’s drinking water. The Student Government Association decided on managing and maintaining a liaison to ensure an effective, responsible, and continuous collaboration between SGA and Watershed UGA on behalf of the student body. With this relationship in place, the hope is for more awareness of the streams from the student body and campus as a whole.
